In the late 60s Broota moves from portraiture to painting stark images of the undernourished bodies of the marginalized classes.

Broota renders ape-like characters to satirically represent socio-political disparities with a comic-tragic evocation saturating his canvases with bright colors.

Broota gradually shifts his focus from outward concerns to looking inwards. Simultaneously he acquires an almost monochromatic palette to suit the philosophical turn.

Broota creates sensual volumes and expressive textures highlighting sharp details in the successive series - moving from ‘man’ to metamorphosis’ and then to ‘traces’ and ‘scripted in time.’

Broota makes a thematic shift juxtaposing man with industrial objects and architectural fragments, articulating the friction of the vulnerable human flesh.

Broota’s most recent works mark yet another change in subject and compositional elements. The inertness is slowly being shed for the arrival of the body in motion.
